Care and Maintenance
At Dhwani Choksi, we are proud to offer sustainable clothing made from natural and organic fabrics. To ensure the longevity and beauty of your garments, please follow these care instructions:
1. Gentle Hand Wash or Machine Wash
- Hand Wash: For best results, we recommend hand washing your garments in cold water with a mild, eco-friendly detergent. Gently swirl the fabric and avoid excessive scrubbing or wringing.
- Machine Wash: If using a machine, select a gentle cycle with cold water and use a mild detergent. We suggest placing the garments in a mesh laundry bag to protect the delicate fabric.
2. Avoid Harsh Detergents
- Use only mild, pH-neutral detergents that are free from bleach and harsh chemicals. Strong detergents can damage the natural fibers and diminish the vibrancy of the colors.
3. Air Dry Only
- Avoid tumble drying, as heat can shrink or weaken the natural fibers. Instead, gently squeeze out excess water and lay the garment flat on a clean surface, or hang it in the shade to air dry. Direct sunlight may fade colors over time.
4. Ironing
- For best results, iron your garments inside out on a low to medium heat setting while the fabric is still slightly damp. Use a pressing cloth to avoid direct contact with the fabric. Avoid high heat, as it can damage the fibers.
- Steam ironing is also a great option to smooth out wrinkles without applying direct heat.
5. Store with Care
- Store your garments in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. It’s best to hang them on padded hangers or fold them neatly to avoid creases. Keep them away from moisture and humidity to prevent mildew or damage to the fabric.
6. Avoid Dry Cleaning
- While dry cleaning may seem like a convenient option, we recommend avoiding it, as many dry cleaning processes involve harsh chemicals. If absolutely necessary, choose an eco-friendly dry cleaner that uses non-toxic solvents.
7. Handle Delicate Embellishments with Care
- Some garments may feature hand-embroidered or delicate embellishments. Treat these areas with extra care while washing and avoid rough handling to prevent any damage.
8. Natural Aging
- Since our fabrics are made from natural, organic materials, some gentle fading and softening over time is natural. This adds to the unique character and charm of the fabric, giving it a timeless, lived-in appeal.
